Uh Oh

For those of you who don't know...I have a bad habit. Okay, I have a few bad habits. Alright, alright...I have several bad habits, but we're only going to discuss one tonight, okay? Sheesh!

(Deep breaths. Breathing in. Breathing out.) I'm okay now. Let's just skip over the introspection-caused breakdown and move on to the part where I actually get to the point.

I like TV. No, I love TV. I don't know what it is about that little magic box, but I am the poster child for couch potato-ism and normally I make no apologies. But tonight I found a flaw in my stolid acceptance of the TV world.

As I sat making a list of all the shows I love, and the shows I think I'm going to love, along with their nights and times (yes, the OCD makes me do this) the following realization slowly sunk in: I have just mentally committed myself to 11 hours of TV PER WEEK!

Is it any wonder that Lindy announced in Primary a couple weeks ago that our family likes to watch TV?

No. No, it isn't.

Thanks for confessing it makes me feel better about myself because I too have a problem. I get hooked on series that I can watch on the internet. It means I can watch 3 episodes of my show a day if I want to (and I have). Darn that magic box!

ps Jason has a camp out so we are having a girls night @ 6ish (friday).

You are not alone my friend. We watch tv LOTS. At least it's a family thing, for the most part.

Become addicted to chocolate. It's a lot easier, and takes less time. LOL

I know why...I'll help you feel better. It's because we spend our entire day cleaning up vomit, pee, poop (I'm 2 for 3 already today), mop, vacuum, make dinner, wash clothes, fold clothes, put them away, clean up toys, tote kids around in the car all day...listen to screaming, crying, tantrums, fighting, "interesting children facts", sassing....need I go on? We NEED 11 hours of brain candy just numb ourselves enough to start the whole thing over again!!!! I'm so proud that you have only committed yourself to 11 hours!! Good for you!!!

What are the good shows that I don't know about? I'm looking forward to biggest loser for sure.

Yes, but if those 11 hours help you maintain your sanity, then there's no "uh-oh" about it. That's what I'm going to tell myself, anyway. :)

If you tape most of your shows like I do, then it really isn't 11 hours, it helps me to justify it my TV problem. Plus I only watch late at night when the mommy needs are all fulfilled.

That's why you shouldn't make a list. Either way, if I did make one as well, I would probably have you beat by several hours. I am not joking. I record a lot of shows so I have something to do while I am folding laundry. That's what I tell myself at least. Because you know it takes at least 11+ hours to fold laundry, right?

Who cares if you watch tv? You have a little sidebar thingy called READING WITH THE KIDS. You rock, girlfriend. Who doesn't want to be just like Amy Jones?

(I used to watched tv but I got my heart broken when my very favorite show was cancelled and I am too loyal to find a replacement.)

I wanna know what show Emily is sad that it got canceled.???? :) I just have to say - I now have a DVR to record shows - so guess what - I may actually answer the phone if you call me in the evening.

Don't tease- it was Gilmore Girls. (especially the early years.) Oh man I loved that show. I know my husband secretly misses it too.

I think TV is totally OK!!!! I personally am very excited for a few new shows this season! I even have them on my phone as an alarm so I don't forget and the DVR is set to record. YEAH!!! 11 hours a week is not a bad thing. I personally love my TV because it is my means of hearing adult voices in the day. My dear Daryl has usually used up his allotted 5,000 words a day at work so there is very little left for me. So the TV is my friend too.
