Resolution

I've been stuck in a rut of introspection lately. Not a fun place to be sometimes. For the last few weeks I have brooded over an ever-pressing need to solidify a RESOLUTION and have come up with nothing...except more unpleasant introspection (sigh).

But today, or rather tonight, I have had an epiphany. In an unexpected moment of clarity I suddenly realized why I've been struggling. With motherhood. With me.

I have forgotten...

to enjoy...

life.

Because I'm busy. Or tired.

Tonight, however, I see that I'm busy and tired because I've been BLESSED with three very active, engaging young CHILDREN.  I'm busy and tired because I'm lucky enough to be a homemaker...to spend my days in service to those I LOVE most of all in this life.

Thankfully a loving Father in Heaven is still willing to remind me that there is JOY in every day. There is PEACE in service. There is BEAUTY in life.

So, an amended resolution finds its' way into my personalized mantra for 2009:

ENJOY!

I love it! You're so right! I think we all need to remember this. I'm loving reading everyone's words for 2009. Weird how so much clarity can come at 2:00am huh!

well said. i love your honesty.

we are so blessed to be able to stay at home, but in the thick of it that is a very difficult fact to remember. 'enjoy it' seems to be my perpetual goal. with my baby turning two next week, the goal is getting a bit easier to achieve.

Amen sista! It creeps up on ya, doesn't it? You get stuck in the "get up, take care of kids, do laundry, do dishes, do dinner, bedtime routine, scriptures, go to bed..." It's a good mantra.

"Enjoy the Journey" was the main message t hat I took from the last conference. I have to remind myself often to try though. Good post. Thanks for the reminder!

Hey Amy--surprise surprise we are gone but not too far, just to Draper, around the point. Anytime you're going to IKEA it is mandatory that you come over!!! :) How are the nights coming? Good news from here is that Tyler is finally figuring it out--we let him cry for a few nights and last night was quiet. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Good luck, and seriously---come on over!!
