Ellie has had a pretty bad cold the last couple of days. It was determined fairly early on that she wouldn't be well enough to go to church today. I started formulating a plan. It was brilliant in it's simplicity. I would send Ian and Lindy off to church, regretful that I wasn't going with them, and once they were out the door I would put Ellie down for an afternoon nap, shut myself in my room with a peacefully sleeping baby, and take a well-deserved nap myself.
It started out wonderfully. Curtis was asleep in his bouncy seat so I sat him next to my bed. By the time I got everything situated Ellie had been in her bed for about a half hour and since I hadn't heard a peep during that time I figured I'd hit the jackpot! I laid down and as soon as my head hit the pillow I was OUT.
I awoke to a horrible shrieking. It was Ellie. Screaming to beat all. I had erroneously assumed that no noise meant she was sleeping soundly in her bedroom. When I reached the hallway I discovered that no noise can also mean that she is in the bathroom applying layer after layer of SoftSoap to every single spot of exposed skin. Including her eyes.
My much needed nap time turned into Ellie's bath time. She had a blast pretending to be a mermaid. As soon as she got out, Curtis woke up with his own banshee-like wail...demanding food. I guess we'll try it another day.

Hey, we did the same thing today. Dallin woke up just as Ben left for church and went down just after he got home - and the girls - let's just say they were relentless. Why is it that as a kid you detest the very word nap and as an adult you fantasize about it. Good luck in your quest for sleep - maybe tomorrow.
It never works out that way does it!! I try almost everyday but it just does not work.
That, I think, I one of life's greatest disappointments. You should send Lindy over some time during nap time. Kaydance would love a friend and you could get a break. Or I can watch both your girls if you want. Let me know!!
Seriously! I just hate it when things don't work out like I want them to!
If it isn't one thing to keep you awake, it's another...day OR night! Take the trains. There's the E flat major train. Then there's the abnoxious G major train whistle between 2:45 and 3:00am -- that engineer must REALLY like his job 'cuz he thinks all of Lehi needs to know his rig is coming through town. All the fun things you learn when you are up with a new baby!
Oh how I can relate! The days when Mason wakes up really early all I can think about is taking a nap when he is sleeping. I go so far as turning off my phone, closing all the blinds, etc. only to have him wake up after 20 minutes. Good luck next time!
oh so sorry it did not work out for you!
So Krista B. did my hair the other day and I told her to see Juno and she hated it! so I am sorry, I guess I am just a crude weirdo, hope we can still be friends.
Not sure if you had heard...we have had some MAJOR blog issues...it just disappeared so we have created a new one at we6crooks.blogspot.com. Be sure to fix it in your links! Thanks-Jen
