Preferred Apparel

On any given day...okay, on every given day...this is what you will find my son wearing: shorts and a t-shirt. These two items do not necessarily have to match, either. In fact, it seems he is partial to the most mind-boggling combinations possible.

This is acceptable in the house only, mind you. (I do have standards of parenting when we venture out in the winter wonderland.) Which also means that on every given day you can find a path of pants, socks, shoes, and shirts strewn from the van to his room as he races to change back into his favored garb. What a nut.

Not Just a Lover of Dairy

Apparently he also likes a little bling.

(His father is so proud.)

I Like Cheese

I walked into the kitchen and noticed a rather large chunk of colby-jack cheese with a multitude of small bite-marks gnawed off of each and every side. I wondered aloud, "What happened to this cheese?" and was answered by a very happy, very proud, little boy who exclaimed, "I LIKE CHEESE, MOM!"

Of this there can be no doubt.

Proximity

In this semi-adult phase of life I've found that Ian and I often talk about our "next house". You know, the one we're going to buy when we are ridiculously wealthy. The dream house. Perfection. Yup...that one.

We have made many declarations regarding this house. We've discussed the yard, the carpet, the paint, the height of the ceiling, the length of hallways, the width of the entryway, the distance between the master bedroom and kid's rooms, the kitchen appliances, the size of the mud room, etc., etc., etc.

But never before have we paid heed to one tiny little detail: The distance between the tub and the toilet. And why would we? I mean, really...I'm OCD, but I wouldn't have considered it worth mentioning.

Until tonight.

Until we found our wet, naked, previously-in-the-tub, two year-old STANDING in the toilet bowl.

Apparently it was just a little too close. What's a boy to do?

Anxious

I came home from a night out (with my book group gals) to find the following whiteboard message from Lindy:

Welcome Home Mom
P.S. When is our dentist appointment? Put it right here:

Apparently she's so overwhelmingly excited about our upcoming visit (next week) that she just MUST have the 411 PRONTO!

(And check out that creative spelling! We're rebels over here...we don't feel the need to follow anyone else's rules!! She cracks me up.)

If Nothing Else, I Inspire Loyalty

Imagine my surprise as I pulled this out of the dryer today:

Why?

No, I'm really asking...WHY?

(Other titles considered for today's post include, but are not limited to, "Loyalty or Vandalism", "Put an End to Graffiti", "Tagging For the New Millennia".)

Career Path

As his older sister dreams of being a vet, a paleontologist, or marine biologist...Curtis apparently entertains plans of different sort.

Imagine his father's joy.
