I admit it, I've asked myself that question several times while in public situations. All you need to do is spend a few minutes in a grocery store and you'll surely find one child, one parent, who defies all logic with embarrassing and disruptive behavior.
Tonight, unfortunately, the "Mother Who Can't Control Her Children" award goes to me. This evening I decided to drag all three of my children, sans husband, to a wedding reception for an old friend. It was a beautiful reception with lovely flowers, charming music, pretty tablecloths, and *gasp* water fountains galore! It took about five seconds for my girls to notice each and every one of the fountains. I mistakenly thought to distract them by sitting them at a table and giving them each a plate of refreshments. Oh yeah! That's a brilliant move, Ame...load them up on sugar! That will certainly encourage improved listening skills!
We didn't last very long. Soon I was forcibly dragging a very wet, very hyper, three-year old out the door while my infant threatened to shock all the dogs in the neighborhood with his high-pitched wails and my five-year old sulkily trudged behind, complaining (aloud) that we didn't get to have any wedding cake.
Note to self: Don't take my kids out in public. Ever.

We like being home-bodies. It's not so bad. :-)
Not that I want to top that but I will say it could be worse, instead of water fountains my son found the chocolate fountain. Yep, needless to say we didn't stay long, and I think ever person at the wedding was thinking to themselves “can’t she control her child” You gotta love those proud parent moments :) They come all too often in this crazy life of mine!
I think that I have had WAY too many of those moments. I have decided that maybe I really can't.
You poor thing. I have to admit just today I was boobing about how I can't take Jonah anywhere without him throwing a huge fit when I try and put him back in the car or take him away from something naughty. So, sorry for your drama but thank you for making me feel better about myself.
I think the only reason I'm laughing so hard I'm about to pee my pants is because my baby just turned 6....So funny Ame!! I'm so sorry, but honestly if you would just CALL me you wouldn't have to do things like that!! I would LOVE to watch the 3 little angels while you go and enjoy some wedding cake!! Next time...call me!! ...still laughing....
Oh Jonsie, that's awful. YOu can call me too, my boys would love to play with your girls.
I think that it gives all us moms out there releif when we hear stories like this. I am so glad that I am not the only one that can't take my children out in public. All I have to say is I pray that is will get easier!! (YA RIGHT)
So sorry, but it does make a good story. I have definitely been there a time or two (or ten or twenty) so I could feel just how mortified you must have been.
Oh man, that is so hard! One time when Colton was 4 he refused to go into sacrament, he threw himself ont the ground in front the doors into the chapel kicking and screaming, I had jordan in one hand, Amanda holding the other and kylie shoving Colton along the floor. I seriously wanted to die! I want to tell you it will get better, but I am not sure it does!
