Scrambled Eggs

Lindy is NOT a morning person. (Yes, Ian, I realize she gets this from my side of the family.) At 8am each morning I have to go in and wake her up in order to get her ready in time for school. Usually I'm greeted by a scowl, or a growl, or something less than welcoming. (Often I get a request for "Five more minutes.") I usually just tell her to suck it up and get out of bed.

This morning I thought I'd try a different tactic. I breezed in with a cheery, "Good morning, beautiful!" and said, "I thought I'd make you some scrambled eggs for breakfast."

From under the covers I hear a grumpy, "What are you going to put in them?"
Me: "How about some bacon and cheese?" (She LOVES both items ferociously)
Her: "In that case, NO!"
Me: "Is there something else you would like in them?"
Her: "I just want them plain."
Me: "Okey, dokey!"
Her: "With cheese."
Me: "Alright"
Her: "And a little bit of ham."
Me: "I can do that."
Her: "Or bacon would be fine, too."
Me: "Coming right up." (trying not to get into an argument with a 5-year old)

It seems the non-arguing approach actually works. She came downstairs for her "plain" eggs within  minutes. Go figure.

Smooth mornings ae my life pursuit. Speak in lilting tones, avoid eye contact, and indulge those little whims!!! Way to go Amy.

Good job Ames! Lindy sounds like Noah in the morning. I have to start by opening the shutters in his room for a few minutes before I even try to wake him up. Having the light in his room seems to help him get ready for the intrusion that is morning. He also gets it from my side of the family. lol.

I so know that feeling of having to drag the kids out of bed. But she really does get to sleep in, doesn't have to get up until 8? I have to get my kids up by 7:25 and during the winter months is especially torturous.

Since school just started today, I'll be using your breakfast tactic soon!

She's so much like Jace...she really wanted to go with your idea of bacon and cheese in the eggs...she just wanted it to be HER idea!! :) Jace is a bear to wake up in the morning...at least you don't have to get her up until 8...we have to be out the door by 7:30! Sheesh!!
