My children and I disagree on many things, but nothing so profoundly as the emotions elicited by the first snow of the year. I looked out of my window this morning and suddenly felt the burden of years fall on my shoulders. (Okay, I'm exaggerating slightly. But still...) Meanwhile, the girls shrieked their delight while dancing around the house singing songs of winter bliss. Even Curtis formed a "glass is half full" opinion of the view from the back window. I am friendless.

One of the drawbacks of an OCD nature is that I can't stand to drive on my driveway when there's snow on it. So, I bundled up and dragged myself outside to shovel the 5 feet of white stuff that dumped on my driveway. With a husband who is typically hundreds of miles away (conveniently) whenever snow falls, the task is generally mine to perform. Unfortunately, within minutes of accomplishing this back-breaking feat I can usually look out the window to see a fresh coat starting to gather. Grumble, grumble.

I don't like winter.

I feel your pain! I've adopted the following philosophy... If I don't get out to shovel it, eventually the sun will come out and melt it all!
I'M SO SO SO JEALOUS!
You make me laugh! I love that Lindy signed the wall I think as she progresses we can call it tagging. I'm so happy for you and Curtis. I hate having to listen to them cry all night. You are tough and I'm so happy for you that you are getting more sleep!!
OH!! I am so glad that he is finally sleeping through the night. I hope that you are feeling so much better. He is so cute. I love the picture of him looking at the snow. He really could be a gap baby.
Lindy! How funny. I love your sense of humor on the subject. You handle things so much better than I do.
I am going private. e-mail your e-mail address to me chelseawhitney@gmail.com so I can add you to my readers list
I am so glad that he slept through the night finally! That is worth having a party for! When should we go? :) As for the snow, I love it!! It could be that we rarely have to shovel because we live on the RIGHT side of the street. ;) But, I love how snow makes everything seem peaceful. It's like it puts a sound depressor on the world. I love it.
Seriously!! I hear ya! Love that pic of Curtis!!
Amy - I have been blog stocking you! Your kiddos are darling! I love the curls that your little girls have! Sounds like you guys keep busy and are enjoying life!
Ah, the beauty of Seattle rain is that, while it falls on you and makes things wet, you don't have to shovel it.
Hey--Curtis is absolutely a doll and sooooo photogenic :) So your sleeping through the night post is quite inspirational, as I'm still trying to get Tyler to do it and he's a year old. I want to know what your advice is when he sleeps until the 5:30 hour, and when I let him cry--he cries for an hour and then it's like it's time to get up anyway. GRRR....any ideas? ryanandninamort.blogspot.com
The picture of Curtis' face is just too cute!
I have to admit that I feel as he does when I see the snow. But that's only because it's such a rarity where we live and when the skiff does land, it's enough to make the entire metro area shut down completely. And being snowed in is kinda fun every now and then.
At least you know how to drive in the snow. Remember when we drove to Canada for Tristi's wedding and on the way back (you had driven the entire way)I took a turn so you could have a break? But it was snowing pretty heavily so you resumed control of the wheel after only about five miles. I just can't drive in the snow!
I can't believe you've already had that much snow. Good luck with that..
I can't drive on the driveway before shoveling it either--I feel your OCD pain! What's wrong with us? :)
