What Kind Of Mother Am I?

I was enjoying a lazy morning. The boy was napping, Ellie was watching TV, and my oldest was savory a solitary bubble bath. I sat down to work on my Christmas puzzle and proceeded to lose track of time.

Several minutes later I remembered my oldest pruning up in the tub and said, out loud, to myself, "Oh...I forgot Lindy was in the bath." Ellie then turned to me and said, "Da**it."

I looked at her, hoping I misunderstood her 3-year old babble, and asked, "What did you say?" She innocently repeated her previous statement. I carefully informed her that we just DON'T say that word...to which she responded, "But mom, that's what we say when we forgot stuff!"

Why is it so difficult to control laughter at those moments you really need to?

(When I asked Ian whether or not I should "blog" this particular family event he agreed that it would be something for future posterity to remember but wanted me to make sure all blog readers, neighbors, and ward members know that he is not the parent responsible for our girls' foul mouth...Do you think it's possible that I can find someone else to blame?)

It's okay Amy - just be glad she doesn't think that's part of her name! (Of course, MY girls have never heard or said any of those words! :)) I think Carsyn thought that was her first name for a long time - and the worst part is that I can remember several occasions when she used the word in perfect context!

it was me...I have been pulling Ellie from Nursery on Sundays and teaching her four letter words. I love it! now I will tell dave not to give me so much crap when Taylor says the terrible phrase he learned from his mother "oh my gosh!" yah I actually get crap from him about it and it is not even a bad word. I guess he would rather me say something like, "Good Heavens" I tell him any word can be a swear word depending on the tone of voice you use. wow that was a long comment. Love ya, Happy New Year! I think I have an idea for a new years resolution for you. Wink wink!

That is one word that does slip from my mouth on rare occasions and Greg is always shocked. Considering what my own parents said, I think we are doing doing okay.

This is HILARIOUS. I love it.

In the UK 'hell' and 'damn' aren't swear words. When I told my mom this she said it removed years of guilt from her shoulders.

You're home free.

This is great! I wish this is the only work my children heard. Seeing that you feel so bad about this call me one day and we can talk about the words my kids hear and you won't feel to bad!

Ahh yes. Maybe there is hope for me, Amy J! One of my resolutions this year is removing "oh my he**" and "cra*" from my vocabulary. Amazing how much more often the terms come out under our breath the more children we add to the family. LOL

I didn't think that was your word of choice on those occasions... not that the other would be any better :)

That is my choice word to... A few weeks ago when Bryan was on the roof putting up the christmas lights Zach asked if he could go up and when I said " No, it's just for dads" He looked up at the roof and said "THE WORD" I to was in shock and hoped I was wrong I asked him to repeat it and sure enough.....It was what I thought.

Don't you just love the things that we say without knowing that little ears and mouths pick those same words up =)
