My air conditioning unit is toying with my fragile, sleep-deprived, emotions. Earlier this afternoon it decided to quit working. Again. The house hit a miserable 82 degrees (yes, I know that I am a wimp and I'm at one with it) and I just wanted to cry. If there's one thing I don't handle with grace it's this: I can't stand being uncomfortable. In any manner.
This is our third bout with a stubborn AC unit. I finally decided to take matters into my own hands. I calmly walked outside and kicked it. Not once. Not twice, but three times. Three good solid kicks to the side of the offending appliance. Take that, stupid AC thingy!
It's now the middle of the night and I'm sitting in a cool, air-conditioned home. I don't know that the kicking actually worked or if the AC unit is simply messing with my mind. But I almost don't care...I'm comfortable for now. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

I wish I could have seen you kicking your AC! I hope you were not using all those cuss words you know as well :D I am soooooooooooooo glad you get to come, yip-ip-eeeeeeeeeee!!!! only 1 more day!
Your kicks are magic! I'm happy that it went back on for you. I hope you can find out what is wrong with it though. That stinking thingy!
How funny....I think a good kick gets anything working.
You are my hero! Do you take Karate? I still think that it is freezing up on you! Maybe you need more freon? sp? ROFL! I am with you...I can't stand to be uncomfortable!
I work with a lot of technical guys. My husband is a technical guy. Do you know that they always resort to a smack, kick, or jostle of an offending appliance? Apparently, as you know, it works!
It was so much more convenient when Travis lived next door and could fix our AC drama any time. Oh, and I think you are dang funny :)
Amy, Amy, Amy... friend -- you needed a HAMMER! :) Just kidn.

O.k. Amy, I think that it is time to break up with this A/C unit! It has played with your emotions and taken you for granted too many times. After all, the best way to get over one relationship is to get on to another!
That's great that your grandma is still around. I miss mine everyday.
Next time Ian goes to England you better go too!
WOW. I am so impressed. Whenever I kick something the only thing that happens is that I feel a little bit better but then feel guilty that I might have made the problem worse. You're good.
This sounds like what our unit did a few times last summer. It was freezing up. This summer it wouldn't work at all and we had to have some part that reminded me of "back to the future" replaced. (flex capacitor maybe?) And they cleaned the coils or something or other. We haven't had a problem since.
Oh- and I don't think you're a wimp. I don't know how anyone can function in a house over 72 degrees. It's just to warm I tell ya!
